Summer Gilet Advice
When people think of a gilet they often think of something green, puffy and thick to be worn year round by farmers, Estate Agents and Agricultural students. This summer we want to give you another option that will keep you smart, looking casual but also keeping you cool. How, can you do this you might ask? With years experience making luxury Gilets in a dozens of different materials we know what works for each season.
You may think that cutting off the sleeves of your favourite jacket is the best way to stay cool in the summer and free up your arms for movement. You would be wrong, a linen gilet is just the thing. Sometimes a shirt alone will just not cut the mustard. Our selection of summer linen gilets will help you stand out from the crowd, look sexy and feel relaxed and refreshed.
A gilet for all occasions
A Gilet can act as another layer for any occasion. In winter you can put one under a jacket but with this weather it is more important to remain cool and yet fashionably smart. Wether you are in the office hard at work or at Henley Royal Regatta* a Gilet may come in handy to keep your arms free to breathe whilst keeping your body looking stylish. It is also the perfect attire for a game of Croquet, letting your arms swing free as you take the all important winning shot.
*Worth noting that Gilets are not on the Dress Code at Henley Regatta for the Stewards Enclosure. So please don’t expect to get in unless you have a jacket on top or it is shirtsleeve order.
Gentlemen are required to wear lounge suits, or jackets or blazers with flannels, together with a tie or cravat. No one will be admitted to the Stewards’ Enclosure wearing shorts or jeans.
You may be familiar with some of our more famous Gilets like the Vega, Ideal for dinner parties or the shooting Gilet, perfect for a day chasing birds. What you may not know is we have a range of linen gilets perfect for the summer. The Il Pelicano has been around for a couple of years and is being snapped up on a regular basis but this year we have something even more special in the form of the Ko Lanta. A special Gilet inspired by the Thai Royal Family, as you can see from the image above, a unique patterning on the interior gives it a unique feel.
Cool summer evenings
The linen Gilet is the best compliment to a summer shirt worn at an outdoor party. We all know that as the cocktails take effect and the sun disappears behind the trees, the temperature can drop fairly quickly leaving you caught short. It is not a situation that dictates a sweater but another layer over your core area can keep the chill at bay, keep you looking comfortable and give you a reassuring blanket of warmth.
